Oh how I wish this were available at the Cooperative Extension in Machias! I’m a little bit very jealous. I’d love to take these classes. If you attend any of them I’d love to hear about them. University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Cumberland County announces a new series called “From Scratch: Your Maine Kitchen” offered on Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. monthly between Nov. 2014 – Oct. 2015. A unique taste of Maine from a variety of local food sources to excite your appetite. The series will kick off with “From the Maine Wild” followed in December by “Gifts from the Maine Kitchen”; start the new year with “Making Sourdough bread” in January. Learn more about cheese making, seafood and seaweed, fermentables, foraging for greens and drinking the harvest in the months to come.
