Thanksgiving is barely over and Christmas is a month away. I’m in holiday mode but BOW’s Winter Skills weekend at Bryant Pond 4H Camp & Learning Center the weekend of February 22-24, 2013 is in mind. The registration packet and details on each workshop being offered is available on BOW’s website.
Winter Skills workshops include Snowshoeing – Wildlife Tracking, Winter Survival, Intro and Advanced Ice Fishing (one workshop each, fishing license necessary), Snowshoe hiking and more. I’ll be co-leading Cooking Wild Game in the warm kitchen on Saturday afternoon, and I’ve already started putting together my box of goodies. We’ll cook enough for everyone to sample something delicious. Each participant will take three workshops. I suggest registering soon because like Introductory Skills Weekend did, this weekend is likely to fill quickly. There’s a limit of 48 participants.
The weekend will start off with registration at 4 pm. We’ll have dinner at 6 pm and an evening program at 8 pm. Then it’s off to bed for a good night’s sleep to be ready for a day indoors and out. Winter Skills is a little more relaxed that last September’s Introductory Skills Weekend. Breakfast doesn’t start until 8 am and classes are three hours instead of three and half hours. The weekend will conclude after lunch Sunday afternoon.
